A long strange trip

Featuring

ALYSS ESTAY AND ZACH STORM

The exhibition explores the multihued and psychedelic themes in their paintings, as the artists walk us through their own interpretations of nature. Storm’s and Estay’s paintings carry a wide range of techniques and materials, which allow the artists to simultaneously channel their observations of nature while using certain natural mediums in their works. The artists transform their respective examinations of nature into purposely disproportionate landscapes, using wide ranges of colors to transform your viewing experience and leave your imagination to interpret every individual painting.

On display at THE OFFICE.

JASON SEIFE

Miami Native, Jason Seife references old Persian carpets. Jason revives these old weavings from his Middle Eastern background, by tediously painting them on canvas in colors and mediums that were not normally used in their origin.

The creation of these works is both a therapeutic and a spiritual process.  Seife channels his obsession with detail into the intricate geometry and compositions of the carpets. Jason specifically correlated each color and pattern to what state of mind and emotion he was in while creating the specific work, thus displaying a chronological timeline of both his mental and emotional state embedded in to the paintings.

MATT MCCORMICK

Matt McCormick is a multimedia artist, based in Los Angeles, California. In his long range of works, McCormick draws inspiration from the American West, embracing aspects of California’s past such as the homestead towns, plateau landscapes, gold rush bonanzas and 1920s Hollywood glamour.

His works reflect on the physical aspects of the American West, with dejected and disposable objects and the tenacious cultural legacy that was the Wild West. McCormick’s art draws nostalgia for a fabled past, while shining light on the realities of poverty in the Los Angeles community

ADAM RABinowitz

Adam Rabinowitz works within the mediums of painting, sculpture and installation. His works are manifestations of appearance and disappearance through matter, space and light. His process begins with raw, unprimed linen, on which he paints gradient fields of color.

The gradient colors create an effect of depth of field in the background. Adam then silkscreens images
onto the painted linen, combining graphic and painterly means, deep and flat.
